Andrew Lee
Andrew is an experienced Insurance Operations Executive who demonstrates the ability to lead diverse teams of professionals across multiple disciplines and multiple jurisdictions. He has had success in the building of companies as well as transforming poorly performing ones. He has led investments into several Insurance companies in South Africa and has spent the last 10yrs evaluating insurance companies in Sub Saharan Africa with a mandate to purchase companies and re-engineer them on behalf of investors. During this he has visited over 36 countries, evaluated over 120 companies, carried out due diligence on 20 and purchased 7. His skillset is supported by over 30 years of hands on experience in strategic planning, business development, project and product management. He has served variously as a director or in a board advisory capacity for several insurers in Africa, as well as holding a non-executive directorship of two IT companies in South Africa. Mark has more than 22 years’ experience in the retirement and health insurance sectors. He began his career in insurance with Glenrand MIB, where he variously managed the Long-Term Insurance subsidiary’s Legal & Compliance, Healthcare and Actuarial divisions and served as a Board member of Glenrand MIB Benefit Services. He also served as a non- executive director of various subsidiaries in SADC countries. Prior to joining AME, he served as the Principal Officer for Resolution Health where he steered the scheme through two major mergers and introduced a comprehensive risk and underwriting management model. He has extensive experience in product design for the healthcare market, affinity programmes, distribution strategies, actuarial modelling and insurance programmes related to the healthcare sector. He has been involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions during his career and has extensive experience in due diligence project management. His strong legal, risk management, governance and compliance background has seen him serve variously as a trustee and independent expert on the board of several retirement funds and medical schemes.
